Who it suits
Rail puts a dark bar behind your name and photo, with a slim side column for contact and skills and a vertical line that links your roles in the main column. It is a confident, high-contrast page for marketing, sales, communications, operations and project roles where a polished first impression helps and the reader is likely to be a person.
How the layout works
- A dark header bar holding the photo and name.
- A narrow side rail with contact details and skills.
- A main column where a vertical line ties together the roles.
- Dark slate accent with icons beside contact details.
ATS notes
Rail has two columns, a dark band and a photo area, so it is labelled Creative, not ATS-safe. The text is real text, but a parser may read the columns out of order. Pair it with a single-column version if you apply through portals.
When to pick something else
You will print in black and white often, because the dark bar uses a lot of ink, or you apply through automated systems.
Tips for filling it in
- Use the dark bar for a short name and headline; long ones wrap.
- Keep the side rail to contact details and 8–10 skills.
- Check the preview in greyscale to see how the dark bar prints.
Rail template questions
Does the dark header use a lot of ink?
Yes, when printed. The PDF is meant for screens first, but if you print copies, consider a lighter layout such as Modern.
Is Rail good for sales roles?
It can be: a bold page with a clear role timeline suits people-facing jobs. Make sure your quota and results lead the first bullets.
