What to put in the summary
Say what you run (a site, a shift, a function), the headcount and budget, and the measures you are accountable for: cost per unit, on-time delivery, safety. The best summaries are one specific result and one specific scale.
Operations manager for a 90-person regional fulfilment centre handling 12,000 orders a day. Seven years in warehouse and logistics, focused on labour planning and getting small, steady gains on cost per order and safety.
Sample bullets with numbers
Operations hiring managers want site size, throughput, cost, quality and safety figures. Include the scale first, then the improvement.
- Led a 90-person site shipping 12,000 orders a day; on-time dispatch improved from 93% to 98.2% over 14 months.
- Cut cost per order by 7% through a revised shift pattern and a re-slotted pick area, saving roughly $410K a year.
- Reduced recordable injuries from 9 to 3 in a year with weekly safety walks and equipment checks run by supervisors.
- Introduced daily 15-minute tier meetings, which cut repeat-error discussion time and raised pick accuracy to 99.6%.
- Managed a $6.4M operating budget and four shift supervisors, holding spend within 1.5% of plan.
- Trained and cross-qualified 22 associates across receiving, picking and packing, reducing overtime by 11%.
These numbers are invented to show the shape of a good bullet. Use your own, and leave a number out rather than guess.

Operations Manager resume questions
How do I move up from supervisor to manager?
Show the scope: budget, headcount of supervisors you led, cross-site responsibilities. Add the measure you were accountable for and how it changed.
Does a Lean Six Sigma belt help?
It helps when backed by a project with savings or error reduction. Without one, the belt alone says little.
