Who it suits

Quill is a one-column page aimed at technical and analytical work: a thin accent bar beside the header, and skills shown as a plain comma-separated line rather than chips. It suits software engineers, frontend developers, data analysts and data scientists who want a clean portal-safe page.

How the layout works

  • One column with a thin accent bar beside the name block.
  • Skills rendered as a quiet comma-separated line, not chips.
  • Short rules under headings and a navy accent.
  • No photo and no contact icons by default.

ATS notes

Quill is labelled ATS-safe: one column of real text with no tables or text boxes. The accent bar is decoration, not content.

When to pick something else

You need two columns to fit a long career on one page. Compact or Dock suit that better, with the usual ATS caveats for columns.

Tips for filling it in

  1. List skills the job post actually uses; leave out tools you barely touched.
  2. Lead each bullet with what shipped, then how you measured it.
  3. Keep the skills line short enough to scan in one breath.

Quill template questions

How is Quill different from Modern?

Both are single-column and ATS-safe. Quill drops contact icons and shows skills as a plain text line; Modern keeps icons and chip-style skills.

Is Quill only for engineers?

It suits any role where a calm technical page helps. Analysts and scientists use it for the same reason.
