What to put in the summary
Say your certification (CMA, RMA or other), the type of clinic and the mix of clinical and front-office tasks. Name the EHR you know. Keep it to two lines and let the bullets give the volume.
Certified medical assistant with two years in a busy family practice. Rooms and prepares about 25 patients a day, draws blood, and keeps the schedule moving. Skilled in Epic charting and in explaining the next step to anxious patients.
Sample bullets with numbers
Use patient volume, procedures you perform and any scheduling or insurance numbers. A mix of clinical and admin proof shows range.
- Roomed and prepared about 25 patients a day for three providers, recording vitals, medications and the reason for visit in the EHR.
- Performed venipuncture and ECGs, keeping the failed-draw rate under the clinic’s 5% target.
- Managed prior authorisations for 15 to 20 procedures a week and cut the average wait for approval from 6 days to 3.
- Reduced no-shows by about 15% by confirming appointments by text two days ahead.
- Stocked and audited exam rooms weekly, with no expired supplies found at the quarterly check.
- Trained two new assistants on room turnover and rooming workflow.
These numbers are invented to show the shape of a good bullet. Use your own, and leave a number out rather than guess.

Medical Assistant resume questions
CMA or RMA on a resume?
List whichever you hold, with the issuing body and year. Employers differ in what they prefer; they usually accept either.
What if I only have externship hours?
List the externship as a job with site, hours and procedures performed. It counts as real experience on an entry-level page.
